Local State Senator May Run for U.S. Senate

Sen. Dominic Pileggi (R-9) may challenge Democrat Bob Casey's re-election bid for U.S. Senate, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Sen. Dominic Pileggi (R-9) may challenge Democrat Bob Casey's re-election bid for U.S. Senate, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Senate Majority Leader Pileggi has made no decision as to whether he'll officially join the other nine Republicans vying for the nomination to challenge Casey, according to the Delaware County Daily Times, but he has been approached about running.

Pileggi, who will keep his Media and Middletown districts, . However he did pick up parts of Edgmont Township from Sen. Edwin Erickson (R-26).

However, because of the minor shifts in Pileggi's redistricting, former state Rep. Tom Houghton, who was preparing to challenge Pileggi in next year's election, can not, according to the Daily Local News.

Houghton is no longer a resident of Pileggi's district.
