Proposed Media Wawa to be Discussed at Oct. Meeting

The public will have the opportunity to ask questions on Oct. 3.

The Wawa and gas station, proposed for the vacant Media Inn lot on Providence Road, State Street and Baltimore Avenue, will be discussed at Media Borough Council's October workshop meeting.

In July, the Media Planning Commission voted 4-1 in support of preliminary plan approval and recommended that Media Borough Council approve the preliminary plan with several conditions, including five waiver requests and three variances.

The public will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the Wawa proposal at the 6 p.m. Oct. 3 council workshop meeting, according to the Delaware County Daily times, where 90 minutes will be dedicated specifically to Wawa.

A rezoning of part of the property is needed in order for the project to move forward. In March, the planning commission voted to recommend that borough council support the rezoning for commercial use and redesign Baker Street, which currently cuts through the property. Council has not yet voted on the zoning request change.

Borough Council President Brian Hall said council will review the zoning and Baker Street issues separately but will first decided if the applicant meets borough ordinances, according to the Delco Times
