Rep. Hackett Marks 50 Years of Wawa in Delaware County

"Wawa is a staple in the Delaware County region," Hackett's office said.

Wawa on Wednesday celebrated its 50th anniversary, and state Rep. Joe Hackett (R-161) was on hand to mark the occasion.

The first Wawa convenience store, opened 50 years ago Wednesday, was in Ridley Township, on MacDade Boulevard.

"Wawa is a staple in the Delaware County region," Hackett's office said. "Rep. Hackett could not be more excited to celebrate this milestone with Wawa, recognizing the customers, associates and stories of the past five decades that have made Wawa a living, breathing brand."

To celebrate, Wawa on Wednesday offered a free cup of coffee to each patron.
