Residents March and Muse at Media Memorial Day Parade

Media's annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony drew about 200 participants and more than 1,000 observers.

The sun glared. Even by 10 a.m., the ground radiated heat, convertibles became open ovens and metal instruments singed the fingers at every fresh touch. Yet, the vehicles hit the pavement, and a couple hundred marchers did, too, again and again, in this year's Memorial Day Parade in Media. Veterans, Little Leaguers, government officials, Girl Scouts, and a marching band turned out to honor the members of the Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms that we hold dear.

More than 1,000 people observed the parade down State Street and following ceremony in front the Delaware County Courthouse. After  Mario Civera, Jr. delivered a speech, there was a gun salute to the fallen, followed by the playing of "Taps." Many ceremony goers also stopped at the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum as part of their observance.
