Stricter Parking Enforcement Comes to Media Borough

The three-hour parking meter limit will now be enforced, Media Mayor says.

Media Borough will soon see more enforcement of the parking meters in the downtown area.

A second parking meter attendant has been hired by the borough and the parking violations will soon have a new appearance, Media Mayor Bob McMahon said at borough council's meeting on Thursday.

The parking meter attendants will be able to upload the parking ticket information to a handheld computer device, making it easier and faster to issue tickets.

Parking meter enforcement runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Tickets can still be paid using the red drop boxes throughout the borough or by going to borough hall to pay the ticket. Tickets can not yet be paid online, however that feature may come to Media in the future, McMahon said.

He said the three-hour parking limit will also be enforced more than it has been in the past in order to benefit the retailers and prevent drivers from parking in prime spots all day.

Parking is permitted for a maximum of three hours in Zone 1 (short-term parking), except at Zone 4 or quick stop meters, where the time is limited to 15 minutes. In Zone 2 (borough parking lots) and Zone 3 (all other meters), there is no time limitation.
