Upgraded Media Parking Meters to be Installed

The State Street parking meters will soon accept credit cards.

New parking meters, which will allow for credit card payments, will be installed along State Street in Media Borough this week.

The 50 meters, from Monroe to Orange streets, will be installed between Tuesday and Friday. Parking will not be disrupted during the installation.

Coins, credit cards or borough parking meter debit cards will be accepted payments at the new meters.

Media Borough Council announced the upgrade in September and Councilman Dr. Eric Stein said that if the credit card meters are successful, a second phase will be implemented and more upgraded meters would be installed.

The parking meter debit cards, which look like any gift card or credit card, are offered by the Media Business Authority and can be purchased at Borough Hall.

There is a one-time $2 charge for the card and then residents are able to add and recharge with different monetary values. Currently, the only location to recharge the cards is at Borough Hall but other options are being researched.
