USGA to Restore Rose Tree Park to Original Condition

The Rose Tree Park Summer Concert series, which kicks off Wednesday, will not be affected by the U.S. Open parking damage.

Delaware County and USGA officials are currently in the process of assessing the damage done to Rose Tree Park while it was used for U.S. Open parking last week.

Due to severe rains, the lot was only used for about two days during the tournament before the USGA made the decision to move the fan parking lot to the Granite Run Mall.

The USGA paid the county $20,000 for the use of the lot, Delaware County Director of Parks and Recreation Marc Manfre said.

Manfre said the park sustained some damage however it was not as much as one would think.

He said he walked the fields and there is some damage but it was still being assessed Tuesday.

The USGA will restore the park to its original condition and pay for the restoration, Manfre said, on top of the original $20,000.

"It's in the lease agreement," he said.

Temporary, stone roadways, were cut in to the park as well to make for easier U.S. Open access and Manfre said those roadways are already in the process of being removed and re-seeded, which was part of the original USGA agreement.

Manfre said the park's Summer Concert series, which kicks off Wednesday, will not be affected by the U.S. Open damage and will continue as usual. The Rose Tree Pops are up first on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Manfre said the USGA was a great organization to work with and the county was happy to be a part of it.

"[The U.S. Open] brought a lot of revenue to the county and we were happy to be a small part of it," Manfre said. "We considered ourselves to be a helping hand while bringing some revenue in as well."
