Zoning Ordinance for Franklin Mint Property to be Discussed at Middletown Mtg.

Council will hold a public hearing at its Jan. 23 meeting regarding zoning ordinances that would affect the former Franklin Mint property.

Council introduced a proposed amendment to a zoning ordinance at . The zoning ordinance would rezone various properties owned by Towne Center, the Franklin Mint development team.

In August, the which would incorporate already existing buildings on the property.

Most residents seemed to be in favor of this new plan however several residents voiced concerns about amending the zoning ordinance at council's most recent meeting.

According to the Delaware County Daily Times, the Middletown Township Planning Commission voted in favor of recommending to council the zoning changes.

Some of the highlights of the new Franklin Mint plan include: 200 residential units which could be houses, condominiums or a retirement community, a grocery store and home improvement store, a 120,000 square foot office building, the existing State Police building would stay, a family sit-down restaurant, a 125-room, four-story hotel, four additional restaurant sites, a possible bank and another restaurant where the existing post office is and a building that could be used for a township library or fire station.
