Media Theatre Extends 'Velveteen Rabbit' Thru Jan. 12

This holiday show is a great way to bring in the New Year.

The Media Theatre’s production of “A Velveteen Rabbit Christmas,” which is a regional premiere based on the popular children’s book about the stuffed rabbit that becomes real, has been extended through January 12.

A musical for youth ages 4 and up, the hour long show features several adult actors as well as students of the theatre’s New School and acting classes. Siblings Dan and Laura Briglia play the lead roles of the boy and the rabbit he receives as a gift. Adult actors include Kristen Arbutina, Doug Cashell, Tim Haney and Roger Ricker.

The show has several important lessons for youngsters including what it takes to grow up and how to love. There is audience participation and a few volunteers are needed from the audience at each performance. Songs include “Tidying Up,” “Run and Play,” and “Friends Like Us.”
