"I have been learning about acting at The Media Theatre for several years now," Owen said. "I’m a student of The New School where Jesse Cline, the artistic director, encourages us to be who we are as we grow as actors."

Owen is also busy at Paxon Hollow Middle School where he plays percussion in band and drums in marching band. Through Saturday Nov. 5, he is in Rapunzel: Here and Now, a contemporary take on the legendary fairy tale in which a teen named Ramona moves from Pennsylvania to California and is nicknamed Rapunzel due to her overly long bizarre hair. Owen plays the role of her father which allows him to showcase his singing abilities as well. The entire cast is made up of students of The New School, which is a conservatory-style educational program focusing on acting, music, and dance each week.

The Sound of Music is The Media Theatre’s holiday show and is a part of its Broadway Series. The young actors who play the Von Trapp Children will work with professional actors who are members of Actors Equity Association during the production. Broadway’s Brad Little will take on the role of Captain Von Trapp during the shows run from Nov. 22 through Jan. 15, with local favorite Elisa Matthews singing "My Favorite Things" as Maria.
