Senior Groups Attend Media Theatre and Dine at Local Restaurants

Looking for something fun to do with your group? The Media Theatre is ready to point you in the right direction

On Wednesday, Nov. 2 a bus filled with The Laurel Blossoms of Carbon County, including the Jim Thorpe and Lehighton areas, attended the musical production of Chicago at , one of the Philadelphia region's most popular theatres and an award winning professional music theatre venue. Each one of its musicals is under the supervisory vision of its Artistic Director Jesse Cline.

In The Media Theatre's production of Kander and Ebb's Chicago, Doylestown's American Idol sensation Justin Guarini portrayed charismatic attorney Billy Flynn. Guarini recently starred on Broadway in Women on the Verge and Green Day's American Idiot. He joins a list of celebrities and renowned actors who have performed at The Media Theatre including Emmy winner Wanda Sykes who was in Annie last season. Tony winner Betty Buckley has also performed on its stage, as well as Tony nominee Ann Crumb who is in the upcoming production of Wings.

Senior groups and retirement centers on day trips also enjoy luncheons when traveling to Media. Before or after the musicals, they dine at various restaurants in the borough, which assists in defining Media as a top destination in the region. The Laurel Blossoms had dinner following Chicago at .

The Media Theatre also attracts high school groups (several attended Chicago as well as last season's The Who's Tommy, traveling from as far away as upstate New York), and organizations and clubs (The Rotary has a fundraiser at the theatre every year). The theatre's second level Crystal Room is available for receptions.
