Media Theatre's HAIR Cast Brings the '60's to Dining Under the Stars (With Video)

Enjoy Video of the HAIR cast on State Street

Dining Under The Stars went back in time to the '60's on June 26 as The Media Theatre's HAIR cast delighted the diners with a bit of "Age of Aquarius" and "Let The Sunshine In".

The show, with a cast of performers ages 13-19, allows audiences to recall the tumultuous '60's when a counter-culture revolution was sweeping the nation. Hippies were everywhere, embodying their mantra of peace, love, and flower power.

"Hair" is Galt McDermott's anti-war musical that changed the landscape of Broadway forever. After "Hair" caught on with a younger audience that escaped to The Great White Way, more shows for the new generation popped up including "Jesus Christ Superstar". This all paved the way for shows decades later such as "Rent".

The Media Theatre's production of "Hair" is slightly edited for younger performers and summer audiences, allowing a glimpse into our nation's history. It's a part of the professional music theatre company's mission of educational opportunities.

Audiences will be able to enjoy "Hair" with a live band onstage conducted by resident music director Tom Fosnocht in a production directed by Jesse Cline starting July 12 and ending August 11.
