Board President John Hanna explained how the board came to appoint Brown Barusevicius saying the board received five resumes from interested candidates; a retired manufacturing engineer manager, two local attorneys, a teacher and a sales consultant.

Hanna said the board interviewed the candidates and asked why each wanted to be a board member and what challenges the district and education are facing.

The board discussed and reviewed the candidates and choose Brown Barusevicius.

The RTM Board of School Directors also honored Linda Kinsler-Fox for her three years serving as president of the board.

At the board's December reorganization, Kinsler-Fox were appointed as vice-president and Hanna was appointed president.

"Being a board member is tough enough but serving as president brings many added responsibilities and pressures," Hanna said. "(Kinsler-Fox) served the district extremely well. Her commitment to our schools, community, students, parents and taxpayers has made a positive impact to our district."

Kinsler-Fox thanked the board for the recognition and thanked the administration, students, parents and community.

"As board president you are trying to work with a lot of different personalities...which can be hard at times but everyone here has been so supportive and all of you have made me a better person, not just a better leader," she said.

"I want to thank all of you, taxpayers, parents and all of you who have come out or written letters to say, 'hey thanks' and all of you who have written hate mail too. Because that hate mail makes us better people and makes us reflect and go back and say 'what can I do better,'" Kinsler-Fox said. "I know you guys are thanking me but I really appreciate everything that all of you have done for me over the years."
