Penncrest Track, Wrestling Champs Honored at RTM School Board Meeting

Penncrest's indoor boys track team and a junior wrestler were honored at the Rose Tree Media School District Board of Directors meeting.

The Penncrest High School Indoor Boys Track 4 x 800 Relay Team was honored at the meeting for being State 4 x 800 Relay Silver Medalists.

Ali Dastagirzada, Nathan Emanuel, Zack Kline and Patrick Miller participated in the Penn State Indoor Track and Field Championships. They ran the 4 x 800 in seven minutes and 55 seconds.

Coaches for the Indoor Track team are George Munro and Rob Brown.

"The 4x800 senior-laden team blew my mind with their progress this year. They've been working their tails off since July with the state championship as their No. 1 goal. Many coaches around the state congratulated us with our development and hard work we've put out this year. Those boys deserve all the recognition. Tremendous group of four right there," Brown said in an email message to Media Patch.

Penncrest High School Junior Joe Gartland was honored at the meeting for participating in the State Wrestling Championship.

Gartland reached the third round status in the State Wrestling Championships held in Hershey, PA. He is the only wrestler from Delaware County to win one match.

Gartland is 1st Team All-Delco.

Coaches for the Wrestling team include Patrick Carney, William Harmon, Greg Jacobs and Bill Mowbray.
