This Penncrest 6-foot-1, 210-pound fullback and inside linebacker has been a bright spot in what has been a regrouping season for the Lions.

Ian Fleming doesn’t get any breaks, nor would he ask for any. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound fullback and inside linebacker has been a bright spot in what has been a regrouping season for the Lions.

"Ian hustles and has a great attitude," Lions’ coach Rick Stroup said. "We haven’t won and it’s not easy to keep a great attitude. Ian has. We’re trying to move forward a week at a time, and each week is a challenge. We’re working on getting better, and we have."

The Lions were , 8-0, with the ball at the Conestoga 17 when Penncrest fumbled the next two snaps. It’s been a case of those issues that have crept up to haunt the Lions. But Fleming has managed to ease some of the issues.

"Ian’s a good lead blocker and a tough kid," Stroup said. "Defensively, he’s been our most consistent player. He goes 100 mph, whether he’s right to wrong, and you can easily live with the hustle mistakes. He works his tail off. Ian isn’t real vocal, but he’s always willing to work hard. The younger kids see what he’s doing, or I would hope so. We just need to move the ball more consistently, and we’re getting there."

Penncrest did make the scoreboard in its It was still a 27-7 loss but getting those first points on the board were just as important.
