"Your track record is impeccable," O'Donnell said.

Board member John Hanna said Montgomery always fights for the taxpayer but always kept the students and community his priority.

"You are a champion to the taxpayers in this community," Hanna said.

Montgomery also thanked the board and the community for allowing him to serve.

He said he feels comfortable leaving at this time because he knows the school district and community are in good hands with the current board members and Superintendent James Wigo.

He asked that the board always keep their sense of humor and to keep the tax increases at zero, especially now that he'll be a "private citizen," Montgomery joked.

"It's been a pleasure and an honor to serve on this board," Montgomery said. "And I hope I've been an advocate on behalf of the students without losing sight of the taxpayers."
