Teacher Spotlight: RTM's Anthony Grisillo

This Gifted Support Teacher has spent his entire career within the Rose Tree Media School District.

Teacher Spotlight is where we feature a local teacher who deserves recognition. Teachers give a lot to their students, schools and studies and we'd like to recognize them and say a simple, thank you, for all that they do.

This Gifted Support Teacher has spent time in all of Rose Tree Media School District's elementary schools. But Glenwood, where he has spent 15 years of his career, feels most like a "comfy set of pajamas," he says.

Years in the Industry: 17 years of teaching and 15 of those years at Glenwood Elementary

Teaching History:

Grisillo has spent his entire teaching career within the Rose Tree Media School District and has taught at all four elementary schools. He graduated from West Chester University and received his Master Degree from Widener University.

Why did you become a teacher:

To be a positive influence on children, giving them the tools needed to succeed while instilling a hunger for learning.

What do you like most about your job:

Teaching allows me to incorporate theatre, music, technology, art, sports and science every day, while making a difference in our children’s lives.

What do you hope your students get out of your classes:

I hope they learn to think outside of the box. I hope they take risks to stretch themselves and always reach for the highest goals.

If you could change anything about education in general, what would it be?

I would like to erase all the stereotypes of teachers. I wish people would just let them go. They just aren’t true about the majority of teachers.

What do you like best about your current schools:

I have actually taught in all four elementary school. But I have been at Glenwood for 15 years, so that school feels like a comfy set of pajamas to me.  Being there so long, it is a part of me. I have only been at Rose Tree for three years, so I still feel new there. The families are amazing, and it is wonderful to be part of such a strong community. All of the schools are great though. I love each of them for different reasons!
