Whiz Kid: Allison Kirchoff

This Indian Lane Elementary student is dedicated to the Girl Scouts, and a whole lot more.

Each week, Media Patch features individual kids, teens, youth groups, and sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments in the feature called Whiz Kid. We also want to hear suggestions on who you'd like to see featured as a Whiz Kid, so send some nominations our way. This week's Whiz Kid is Allison Kirchoff, a student at Indian Lane Elementary School, who excels in the Girl Scouts, sports, studies, and then some.

Accomplishments: Allison became a Junior Girl Scout last year, after graduating from being a Brownie. She has earned two highly-coveted badges so far, one for values, and the other for attending the "Camporee" program. Allison’s group, Troop 57086 in Middletown, recently hosted a "Thinking Day" event, where she represented the country of Laos. Allison dressed up in Laos’ traditional clothing, presented photographs of the country, and enlightened them about the country’s culture.

Why she's awesome: Allison’s involved in many other extra-curricular activities, as well as the Girl Scouts. She has participated in karate, cheerleading, gymnastics, tap and ballet dancing. This spring, she plans to take to the softball field. Allison has her sights set on college, and hopes one day to become a veterinarian or zoologist. Even though she juggles so many activities and sports, Allison does very well in school. In fact, she’s enrolled in the accelerated math program in school. A real math "Whiz," that Allison.

Editor's note: Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout or did your local hockey team take the championship? They may be our next Patch Whiz Kid honoree. We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid.
