Media Little League Wins Regional Championship

The district team of nine and 10-year-olds beat New Jersey, 7-4, and captured the Eastern Regional Invitational Tournament championship Friday afternoon in Rhode Island.

It's a proud day for all those involved with . The nine and 10-year-old district team once again , defeating New Jersey for the second time in a week and winning the Mid-Atlantic Championship.

Media held a 7-0 lead heading into the final inning. New Jersey's Holbrook Little League squad made a strong last inning run to put the score at 7-4 before Media sealed the deal.

On the championship path, Media defeated the champions from Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Maryland.

They not only went undefeated in Rhode Island, but did so with staggering numbers; the team outscored opponents in its five games 52-24.

The boys weren't just playing for themselves this past week. After winning the Pennsylvania state championship, Media Little League represented approximately 125,000 Pennsylvania Little Leaguers in Rhode Island, according to Little League International.

Media now plays the New England champions at noon Saturday for the Eastern United States Championship.
