Get Out: Bastille Day, Pirate Splash and Media Car Show

What's going on in and around Media Patch this weekend.

This week, enjoy a wide-range of fun in Media Patch. Enjoy the French fun and reenactments of Bastille Day. If that doesn't rev your engine, head to the Media Car Show. But if you're looking for art education and something more quiet take a tour of Andrew Wyeth's studio.

  • When/Where: Saturday, July 14 at 6 p.m. at , 38 W State St, Media
  • Why Go: State Street will be closed to traffic for a reenactment of the Storming of Bastille and transform into an arts-filled scene with professional theater presentations, art displays, live music, dancing, children’s activities and more. The featured performance is Zydeco-a-Go-Go. The event is hosted by Media Arts Council.
  • Cost: Free


  • When/Where: Sunday, July 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., along State Street in downtown Media
  • Why Go: Hundreds of automobiles ranging from antiques to muscle cars to hot rods will descend upon Media for the Fifth Annual Downtown Media Car show.
  • Cost: Free

  • When/Where: Saturday, July 14 from noon to 4 p.m., at the Colonial Plantation at
  • Why Go: Bring your swimsuit and old shoes and help pirates attack the farm house. Run the maze and the gauntlet while being sprayed with water. There will be foot races, face painting, rubber ducky races in the creek and and a water balloon toss.
  • Cost: $8

  • When/Where: Sunday, July 15, all day, at 1 Hoffman Mill Rd, Chadds Ford
  • Why Go: See where America's beloved artist created some of his most iconic works of art with a tour of Andrew Wyeth's studio. Tours take place Tuesday through Sunday at 10, 10:45, and 11:30 a.m. and 12:15, 1, 1:45, 2:30 and 3:15 p.m. Tours last approximately one hour. Advanced, timed tickets are required.
