Halloween Parades, Pumpkin and Fall Fests Among Weekend Events [Get Out]

It's a busy week and weekend in and around Media Patch. See what's going on.

There are lots of things happening this weekend. It's a weekend full of community fall and Halloween events. Remember your Halloween costume and check out the many parades happening this week and weekend. Or check out a Fall Festival and decorate pumpkins or receive a psychic readings or pumpkin facial at a salon.

Halloween Parade in Media

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. Rain Date: Oct. 27
  • Where: State Street in Media
  • Why Go: Plenty of area high school bands, dance teams, fire trucks, antique cars and lots of costumes will fill the streets. Before the parade, visit the annual Halloween Extravaganza from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Media Community Center, where there will be games, food, and goodie bags. 

PSU-Brandywine Fall Festival/5K

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Where: Penn State Brandywine, 25 Yearsley Mill Rd in Media
  • Why Go: This fall festival will feature DJ Gee Q from Ocean City’s 103.9 FM, carnival-style food and games for the whole family, including Skee-Ball and battle boats. Prospective students can get a student-led tour and hear about the admissions process. Or participate in the 5K run (or one-mile walk) on the campus cross country trail. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the run/walk will take place at 10 a.m.

Linvilla Halloween Costume Parade

  • When: Sunday, Oct. 27, at 11:30 a.m.
  • Where: Linvilla Orchards 137 West Knowlton Road in Media
  • Why Go: Get your costume ready! Children and grownups alike can march in the parade and everyone in costume earns a treat. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Dressed in each age group.
Spooktacular Saturday at the Salon
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26
  • Where: Cambio Salon, 1010 W Baltimore Pike, Media
  • Why Go: The salon will offer special treats...without any tricks including blow outs, psychic readings, pumpkin spa facial and massage and more.

Inner Drive Fitness Open House 
  • When: Saturday, October 26 from 8 a.m. to noon
  • Where: 210 South Newtown Street Road, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: Tour the studio and try FREE Indoor Cycling and Fitness Classes. The free classes are scheduled for 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
  • Cost: Free
Trunk or Treat
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.
  • Where: Newtown Square Presbyterian Church, 3600 Goshen Road, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: Bring your own pumpkin to decorate and carve. Try the chili cookoff, pie making contest or scarecrow making (bring a pillow case, pants, and a shirt). Plus, 12 car trunks will be decorated with themes that allow children a safe trick-or-treating option.
  • Cost: $5/person; $10/family

Spotlight Theatre's Cinderella

  • When: October 25 through 27, times vary
  • Where: 129 Park Avenue, Swarthmore
  • Why Go: This classic tale of the ill-treated girl who dreams of a better life is retold as a musical, filled with a spirited score, humor, and all your favorite characters.

Hillview's Pumpkin Festival

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rain Date: Oct. 27
  • Where: Hillview Nursery School, 219 Parkview Drive, Broomall
  • Why Go: Come out and enjoy food, games, face painting, pony rides and more while celebrating Hillview Nursery School.
