Magic Show, Line Dancing, Basketball Camp Among Weekend Events [Get Out]

It's a busy week and weekend in and around Media Patch. See what's going on.

There are lots of events happenings this weekend. It's a weekend full of community events. Take in the play "A Christmas Carol" or take the kids to a magic show at Temple Sholom. Go line dancing or catch a bluegrass concert.

A Christmas Carol

  • When: Showtime dates and times vary
  • Where: Hedgerow Theatre, 64 Rose Valley Road, Rose Valley
  • Why Go: This year marks the 21st annual presentation of the classic Charles Dickens tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, who transforms from miser to man and honors Christmas in his heart, as adapted by internationally known playwright Nagle Jackson. 
  • Cost: Tickets $34 for adults; $31 for seniors; $15 for students/under 18.

Giggle Magic Show

  • When: Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 10 a.m.
  • Where: Temple Sholom in Broomall, 55 N. Church Lane in Broomall
  • Why Go: The Temple Sholom Preschool will host a magic show and brunch with Giggle Magic. Best for children ages 2 to 7 year olds.
  • Cost: $10 per child
Line Dancing
  • When: Thursday, Dec. 26 at 11 a.m.
  • Where: 144 Lawrence Road in Broomall
  • Why Go: Hosted by Surrey Services for Seniors, and led by Dancing Don, join this group of active older adults who like to learn and dance. Newcomers are always welcome.
  • Cost: $4 per class

Holiday Basketball Camp

  • When: Dec. 28, 29, 30, 31 from 12 to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Healthplex Sports Club, 194 West Sproul Road in Springfield
  • Why Go: A great place for the kids when they are off from school, for grades 1st through 8th. Players will be divided by skill level, both members and non-members are welcome.
  • Cost: Registration and fee required.
Manatawny Creek Ramblers in Concert
  • When: Friday, Dec. 27 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: Vinyl Revival, 35-37 N. Lansdowne Ave. in Lansdowne 
  • Why Go:  BYOB and come out for a fun night of roots/bluegrass music from The Manatawny Creek Ramblers, with special guest Jonathan J. Bower.
  • Cost: $15
