Passover eatures six symbolic foods, including matzo, a cracker-like unleavened bread symbolizing the Exodus from ancient Egypt when there was not enough time to let the bread to rise. Patch file photo.

"A number of contemporary scholars believe the story of the Exodus is apocryphal and that theRead More Israelites were never among the peoples subjugated by the ancient Egyptians. Regardless of any historical debate, most rabbis believe...." So even if it is pretty much agreed all or most of these events are myths, followers are encouraged to perpetuate superstitious practices - just like Catholics not eating meat on lent Fridays.

Correction: You state: "Unlike most Jewish holy days, there is no synagogue service forRead More Passover, although some congregations and other organizations conduct Seders." In fact, there is a holiday service for the first two days and the last two days of Passover, as there is for the other pilgrimage festivals of Sukkot, and Shavuot. On the last day of the holiday, next Tuesday, the Yizkor service, a memorial service for the dead is added to the service.

To Martha Lieberman, some advice to find happiness in your life: Cook up a nice meal, invite aRead More homeless person from your neighborhood to share and read a story from the Haggadah. That homeless person would feel like a Mensch again, and, imagine, you, yourself, delivered him/her from bondage. G-d would smile at you throughout the whole Seder meal. Shalom!

Maybe if we shut down the Catholic Church, Issy and his people, whomever they are, can take up theRead More slack and support all those services from aids to education, from feeding the hungry to adoption, that the church now provides to all people of all religions. I would venture to guess that the church has saved more lives of as Issy says, "the most important part of society, our children" from the ravages of death by abortion than any other organized religion in the world. No credit for that from People like Issy. The church has paid heavily for their actions. To say they haven't is ludicrous.

Clewson, please stop making up nonsense (it makes you look foolish), if you actually paid attentionRead More to what other said you would see that my very first comment was "While of course we should all commend the Catholic Church for its humanitarianism...." so take your fake outrage somewhere else................. Secondly the church may have paid heavily for their actions but they are nowhere near done, they need to account for their actions and that means that they need to allow for an audit and stop harboring known enablers and facilitate prosecutions.

folks, please stop trashing the Mystical church of Jesus over the horrible mistakes of the CorporateRead More church - stop using pedophile priests to denigrate Jesus -- He already warned us all of the demonic forces. Why do you think pedophiles join the church? To tear it down.
