The Delaware County Council observed the tragedy and attempted assassination of an Arizona congresswoman at its council meeting Tuesday morning. Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, 40, was shot in the head at close range at a political event Saturday. She is still listed in critical condition. Six people were killed and 14 more were injured. A 9-year-old girl with local ties to the area was also killed. She was the granddaughter of former Phillies manager Dallas Green, according to published reports. The County Council expressed its sympathy over the deaths and held a moment of silence before starting its meeting.
