According to its website, owners Carol Riley and Bobbie took their final bow. "We want to thank every one of you for enriching our lives over the years." In 2011, Media Patch sat down with Riley, who has been in the business for 35 years, and she said she loved putting food and people together. Media Patch Businesses that Closed in 2012

Several local businesses shut their doors this past year.

Several businesses and one (and a half) schools closed their doors in 2012, bringing changes to the Media Patch area. Below are some of the businesses in Media Patch that closed last year. In late November, Zac's Hamburgers in Media closed with owners saying they could not come to a new lease agreement with the building's owners. Edgmont's Sang Kee opened in the summer of 2011, then closed in the summer of 2012, only to quickly reopen as Azie Southeast by the same owners. But only months later, Azie Southeast also closed. Next to Azie Southeast, was Winner's Circle Sports Bar, which closed in the fall and reopened as Double Edge Sports Grille. Four Paws, after relocating to Jackson Street in Media, closed in 2012. Months later, Viso's …

Edgmont's Azie Southeast Closes

Azie Southeast, which recently opened in September in Edgmont Square Shopping Center, has closed.

Azie Southeast, which opened its doors in Edgmont Square Shopping Center just this September, is now closed. Azie Southeast representatives have not been available for comment however, the restaurant's sign has been removed and the inside of the restaurant has been empty for more than a month. Since late November, the restaurant has appeared to be closed. Azie Southeast, which was formerly Sang Kee Noodle Bowl, had been revamped and updated by its same owners, Win Signature Restaurants in late August and reopened in September. There is no word as to why the restaurant closed after only being open for about two months. Prior to Sang Kee, Win Signature Restaurant opened Parker's Prime at the same location and also with little success. Win …

Dino Don's Dinosaurium to Go Extinct at Mall

Granite Run Mall's Dinosaurium will close on Jan. 1.

Dino Don's Dinosaurium, which opened inside the Granite Run Mall in November 2011, will close its doors on Jan. 1.  The Dinosaurium was to just run through the spring when it first opened, but the prehistoric giants stayed longer than expected. The Dinosaurium is curated by "Dino" Don Lessem—the jolly champion of prehistoria who's best known by the public as an adviser on Jurassic Park. The Granite Run Mall exhibit helped spread the gospel of dino to a new generation. According to Lessem, his dinosaurs are now headed for the road, to exhibitions across the country, and many of the dinosaurs will be sold to amusement parks in China. About 40,000 dinosaur lovers walked through the mall exhibit during its 16 months of existence, he said, and …

This is one of my sons favorite places. Everytime we're at the mall he asks to go to "dino dig". Think I'll take him today or tomo, one last time.   more ›

Zac's Hamburgers in Media Closes Doors

The hamburger spot at the corner of Orange and State streets closed last weekend.

Zac's Hamburgers, at the corner of Orange and State streets, flipped its last burger and blended its last milkshake last weekend in Media. Zac's four other locations in Aston, Crum Lynne, Folsom and Havertown will remain open. Owner Pete Politarhos says the classic burger joint was unable to work out a new lease agreement with the building's landlord and the last day at the Media location was Nov. 24. However, Politarhos says, the hope is to find a new Media location. "We will miss all of our customers in Media but look forward to seeing them again in the near future," Politarhos says. Media was Zac's Hamburgers third location and opened in 2005.

Springfield has managed to turn itself around and become a pretty decent mall and the Concord Mall is nice and much closer than Christiana. You (we) don't live in a depressed area. Simon has just stopped giving a crap about Granite Run, for some reason.   more ›

Visions For Vacancies: Getty Gas Station in Media

What would you like to see at the former Getty Gas Station on Baltimore Pike in Media?

The former Getty Gas Station at 401 E. Baltimore Ave. in Media closed a few months. What type of business would you like to see go up at that location? According to All Things Media, Pa. Blog, the Getty also sold cajun food and repaired computers as a side business during its years on Baltimore Pike. There are several other gas stations within a one to two block radius, with Sunoco across the street and BP and Kwik Lukoil right up the block. There has also been talk of a Super Wawa being built right in that area as well.  The corner is definitely a high traffic area so if the right business moves in, it could be very successful. Media Patch wants to know what you would like to see at the corner of Manchester and Baltimore avenues in Media…
