Baseball season is in full swing. The teams are competing, and so are Patch's baseball fans. We’ve narrowed the list down to the greatest fan in each our Patch towns, and now it’s time to see who is the greatest among them. The winner will get a prize package valued at $250, including sporting gear, signed baseball memorabilia, and time at the batting cage. See below for the details. Find out who won Patch’s Cutest Couple contest.
The votes are in and Heather McFeeley and her boyfriend John Lorentson have been named Patch’s Cutest Couple. McFeeley’s mother, Patty McFeeley, entered the couple in the Springfield Patch contest. In the voting, Sheri Joseph called them “Such an adorable couple!!” and Claire Carroll said “heather and john have got it going on!!!” Terry Hudson said, “Heather and Jon adorable and so nice too!” McFeeley and Lorentson will receive: Second prize goes to Laurie and Jason Bull, of Bryn Mawr. The Pirate Carrying a Mermaid Optical Illusion has been named Patch's Halloween Costume in America. Its creator -- and wearer -- will receive a $5,000 prize for having the most creative and innovative costume.
Ashley Playford dressed up as a pirate carrying a mermaid this Halloween. Well, actually, she dressed up as the mermaid. Her creativity has earned her the title of Patch's Best Halloween Costume in America and a $5,000 grand prize. It was Playford's use of an optical illusion that won us over. Playford entered the contest from Peekskill-Cortlandt Patch in New York. Almost 4,000 Patch users entered the contest from Oct. 15 to Nov. 5, with costumes ranging from the Eiffel Tower and Honey Boo Boo to a flower pot and a clever interpretation of "binders full of women." National judges chose one finalist from each Patch state based on who had the most creative and innovative costume (we combined North Carolina & South Carolina for this contest…

Congratulations to Michele Ippoliti. She is the winner of this week’s Patch Picture of the Week contest with her picture of Michael Ippoliti, on the football field. Michael is entering his fourth year with the Conestoga Generals in Berwyn and passionate about football. Coming in a close second this week was Kelly Cortese’s picture of Courtney Cortese in the pool. Courtney is on the Great Valley High School swim team, as well as the Chester Valley Golf Club Swim Team. As usual, there were some great pictures this week and I’m glad I didn’t have to pick the winner. It’s great to watch the best compete in the Olympics in London, but it’s also wonderful to see the amazing talent we have here at home, some of whom could make their way to future…

The 2012 Summer Olympics in London are officially open and the world’s best athletes are competing for gold. But those aren’t the only great athletes.
