Restaurant Review: Desert Rose

Patch contributor Lauren Avellino Turton reviews State Street’s Mediterranean "street food" restaurant and market.

Restaurant: Desert Rose Mediterranean Cuisine & Specialty Market Address: 305 West State St., Media, PA 19063 Rating: (out of 5 stars): ★★★★ Style: BYOB; Sit-down or take-out for lunch and dinner (outdoor seating coming this summer) Food: Traditional Mediterranean cuisine Atmosphere: Casual, clean, and bright Parking: Street parking Service: Friendly, fast, and casual Price Range: Affordable Unique Feature: Traditional Mediterranean “street food” is unique to the State Street restaurant scene. Desert Rose Opens for Business

Desert Rose, the new Mediterranean and specialty market on State Street, is now open for business.

Desert Rose, at 305 W. State Street in Media, is now open for business. The new Mediterranean and specialty market right off the corner of State and Orange streets opened its doors Thursday. Sandwiches, hummus, salads and soups are on the menu. Along with the detailed menu explaining the delicious options there is an explaination of the foods, for the less Mediterranean-inspired customer. "What am I eating," is likely a question Chef and Owner Jason McHugh will often get during the first few months of business. So he as the answers ready to go, along with the menu.   (See the attached photos and PDF files for menu and "what am I eating" details.)

Today was my first visit to Desert Rose and definitely will not be the last. I tried the Labaneh and it was amazing! The pita was the best pita I have ever had and everything was so fresh. I cannot wait to take my husband there. Check it out you will not be disappointed. Prices are extremely reasonable.   more ›

Mediterranean Restaurant Coming to Media

A Mediterranean restaurant appears to be coming soon to State Street.
