Penncrest Takes Home Hi-Q Championship

It came down to a final math question for the Penncrest Hi-Q team.

Penncrest High School's Hi-Q team beat out Haverford and Marple Newtown high schools this week to win the 2013 championship. Hi-Q is the oldest academic competition in the country and Penncrest hosted the championship for the fourth time in a row. The final score was Penncrest 50, Haverford 45, Marple Newtown 44, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. Penncrest team captain Senior Grace Chang, of Media, brought home the win—and $3,000 in prize money to benefit the student body—with the final math toss-up question, according to the Delco Times. Penncrest team members are Margaret King, Grace Chang, Alicia Schapire, Jennifer Parmiter, Serena Bachelor, Raman Ishwar, Sumil Patel, Madelaine Else, Gabriel Bury and Spencer Rugen.

1st Place Penncrest Hosts Hi-Q Championship

Penncrest takes a new Hi-Q record, making it to the finals for the 27th time.

Penncrest High School will host the Hi-Q Championship on March 12, for the fourth time in a row. Hi-Q is the oldest academic competition in the country. In the semifinals, Penncrest took first place with 50 points and an overall 171 points this season. Springfield and Marple Newtown high schools tied for second place with 44 points, according to the Delco News Network. Hi-Q Semifinal Ranks
