You can help rebuild communities that were hit by Hurricane Sandy by donating cans of food, volunteering for cleanup efforts—or simply sending a tweet. Patch is excited to announce our new effort to help support devastated communities after the storm. For every tweet sent with the hashtag #PatchRebuilds, we will donate $1 to the AmeriCares Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Fund, up to $125,000. Media Borough Council also offered up its thanks to all those involved with Hurricane Sandy preparations and her aftermath.
Media Borough Council announced the next round of roadwork in the borough and also thanked all of those involved with preparing for and executing plans during Superstorm Sandy. Numerous borough personnel members were thanked at Thursday's council meeting including Media Borough Manager Jeff Smith and the entire Administrative Office, Code Enforcement Director Jim Jeffery, Emergency Management Crews, Public Works Director Ralph DeRosa and the entire Public Works Department, Media Borough Police, Fire and EMS crews, PECO and the Shade Tree Commission for its ongoing efforts of cutting and trimming trees. In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, area residents are looking for ways to help our neighbors to the North and West. We want to say 'thank you' to the many people and organizations who worked hard and helped those in need during Superstorm Sandy.
Hurricane Sandy whipped through our area with high winds and heavy rains and left behind a trail of power outages, uprooted trees, road closures, damaged roofs and property and so much more. But despite Sandy's devastation and upheaval, it was the people of our town that kept us from being "powerless" throughout Sandy's reign. Media Patch wanted to take a minute to thank those who helped before, during and continue to help after Superstorm Sandy swept through the greater Media area. Middletown Township has announced additional yard waste collection to assist with Hurricane Sandy clean up.
Middletown Township has announced a special yard waste collection to help residents properly dispose of sticks and branches that came down during Hurricane Sandy. All residents residing in Recycling Area 1 (south of the SEPTA rail line) will be collected on Tuesday, Nov. 6. All residents residing in Recycling Area 2 (north of the SEPTA rail line) will be collected on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Yard waste must be placed at the curb the evening before collection or before 6 a.m. on the day of collection. If it is not out to the curb by the time the truck arrives to collect, the truck will not be sent back to collect later. The next regularly scheduled yard waste collection is Wednesday, Nov. 21. Middletown Township may have been the hardest hit area within Media Patch during Superstorm Sandy. The township continued to see power outages and some road closures Thursday. Should any resident come across barricades, caution tape, cones etc., please remember that they are placed there to indicate a hazardous condition and should not be crossed.
