About 500 Residents Voice Concerns, Endorsements for Proposed Franklin Mint Development

The proposed development at the former Franklin Mint property has Middletown Township divided.

Approximately 500 people attended a public hearing Tuesday night in order to voice their concerns and endorsements for a proposed development project at the former Franklin Mint property on Baltimore Pike in Middletown Township. The crowd’s opinion was divided. Many residents from Middletown Township were strongly against the proposed project that would bring 1,253 homes, 798,00 square feet of retail space, a 225 room hotel, 235,200 square feet of office space and 70 acres of open space and parks. However, there were also many union workers and other residents who welcome the project along with the 2,851 jobs it could bring and plus another 4,785 jobs related to the construction of the project. Fast Food Restaurant Plans Application to Middletown Zoning Board

A new fast food restaurant will be making an application to the Middletown Township zoning hearing board.

A new fast food restaurant will be making an application to the zoning hearing board later this month to replace a now abandoned fast food restaurant. Chick-fil-A restaurant will be making its first application to the zoning hearing board to demolish and replace the former Taco Bell/KFC building on Route 1 and Route 452. Township Manager Bruce Clark said at the Middletown Township Council Meeting Monday night that the application will go before the zoning board first, then the planning board and then go before the township council. So there won’t be any waffle fries in Middletown Township any time soon. Clark said Chick-fil-A will be making several requests in its application. Middletown Town Council Reorganizes

Middletown Township's Council conducted its reorganizational meeting Monday night.

Middletown Township's Council conducted a swift reorganizational meeting Monday night. Scott D. Galloway and Lorraine Bradshaw were unanimously reappointed as council chairman and vice chairwoman for 2011. Joseph A. Damico, Jr. was unanimously reappointed as township solicitor. In addition to the township council, other appointments to township boards and commissions were decided. Each motion was passed unanimously.
