Pennsylvania’s governor announces his plan to privatize liquor sales and a poll shows voters favor privatization. What do you think?
The idea of privatizing Pennsylvania’s liquor stores is not new. The majority of voters support the idea, according to a Franklin & Marshall College Poll. Of those polled, 34 percent strongly supported and 19 percent somewhat supported privatization, while 10 percent somewhat opposed and 24 percent strongly opposed. Historic data shows an interesting swing in support. The combined support of both strongly and somewhat was 53 percent in this February 2012 poll and in a June 2002 poll, the combines support was 55 percent, but the breakdown was different. Check your credit card bill if you bought alcohol in Pennsylvania around Thanksgiving.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board reports that it double billed customers who used credit to make purchases over the Thanksgiving holiday. The PLCB says in a release that they became aware Feb. 28 of the duplicate billings on purchases made from Nov. 23 (Wednesday) to Nov. 28 (Monday). The error impacted in-store purchases, and not online purchases, according to the PLCB statement. As of March 1, the PLCB says duplicate billings were reversed. The idea of privatizing Pennsylvania’s liquor, iam in favor of it, the state should not be running liquor stores. why does not the retail clerks union buy some of the state stores so they can be employee owned and operated ? liquor control board is another group that should dissolved .   more ›
