New Principal Arrives at Rose Tree Elementary

Rose Tree Elementary School's new principal brings global experience to the role with almost 20 years in the education industry and having taught in the U.S. and South Africa.

Rose Tree Elementary School's new principal has only sat at her new desk for about two weeks but she is bringing plenty of experience and culture to the position. "I've been really lucky because I've had an interesting journey," Principal Jenny Robinson says. Robinson was born and raised in South Africa, where she began her teaching career. She taught high school science in an inner city school towards the end of apartheid, before heading to Canada in the late 80s, where she changed direction and studied business. After having spent about two years in Canada, Robinson took a break from work life to raise her two daughters and began her United States journey. RTM School Board Approves New Elementary Principal

Jenny L. Robinson will be the new principal of Rose Tree Elementary School.

The Rose Tree Media Board of School Directors voted unanimously Thursday to approve Jenny L. Robinson as the new principal of Rose Tree Elementary School. Robinson comes from the Oxford Area School District in Chester County. "I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team in the Rose Tree Media School District,” Robinson said. Former Rose Tree Principal Karen Daugherty, who had been principal at Rose Tree for the last five years, resigned during the summer. In addition to welcoming Robinson to the Rose Tree, School Board President Linda Kinsler-Fox also thanked interim Principal Wayne McAllister for his leadership at Rose Tree Elementary. Teacher Spotlight: Rose Tree Elementary's Nancy Gheysens

This Rose Tree Elementary School teacher wants every student to reach their potential.

Media Patch is offering a feature called Teacher Spotlight where we will feature a local teacher who deserves recognition. Teachers give a lot to their students, schools and studies and we'd like to recognize them and say a simple, thank you, for all that they do. Rose Tree Elementary Student's Artwork on Display

Megan Arndt, a fifth-grader at Rose Tree Elementary School, had her creative painting featured at the Delaware County Government Center to celebrate the school’s earning a national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award.

Teachers Accept Awards at RTM School Board Meeting

Two Rose Tree Media School District elementary school teachers were awarded for their excellence in teaching.

Two Rose Tree Media School District elementary school teachers were awarded for their excellence in teaching at Thursday's RTM school board meeting. Rose Tree Elementary School Teacher Nancy Gheysens was awarded the 2011 Teacher As Hero Award. This yearly recognition program, sponsored by State Farm, honors outstanding educations in the Delaware Valley. The qualifications to receive this award are: the teacher has provided many years of service in the field of education, volunteers in her community outside of school, demonstrates exceptional creativity in the classroom, defuses violence and bullying among students, perseveres despite increasing challenges and serves as a role model to other teachers.
