Donate Old Towels, Help Pets in Need

Animal shelters across the region are in need of worn linens.

Look in your linen closet and you're likely to find torn towels, blankets, and sheets that may wind up in the trash, or as rags.  Before you toss the old stuff, you may want to consider donating them to your local animal shelter to help thousands of dogs and cats. Sadly, many pets that go to shelters and rescues are scared in their new surroundings, and they are forced to sleep on cold cement floors since warm bedding isn't usually in the budget. Shelters can actually go through thousands of blankets and towels each month, and depend on donations to help provide the animals with warmth during the colder months.  You can help. Delco SPCA Celebrates Phillies Opening Day with Discounts

The Delco SPCA is hosting an Opening Day Weekend adoption event where visitors will be eligible for $1 adoptions, pictures with the newest Phillies Ballgirl, dollar dogs, a bake sale and a raffle basket full of Phillies merchandise.

The lifesaving Delco SPCA is ecstatic that the Philadelphia Phillies season is underway. In celebration of their return to Philadelphia, Delco SPCA is hosting an Opening Day Weekend adoption event on Saturday and Sunday where visitors will be eligible for $1 adoptions with no exclusions, pictures with the newest Phillies Ballgirl, dollar dogs, a bake sale and a raffle basket full of Phillies merchandise. Visit the Delaware County SPCA at 555 Sandy Bank Road, in Media, on Saturday from 12-7pm or Sunday from 12-4pm to take part in the Opening Day Weekend adoption event. Playful Posh the Dog Perks Up for Adoption

This pitbull terrier mix, named Posh, is available for adoption at the Delco SPCA.

This playful, pitbull terrier mix, named Posh, rounds out the Delaware County SPCA's Pitbull Awareness Month. Posh loves the excitment of the outside and gets a little overly excited after being stuck in a kennel all day. Posh needs a home where she can enjoy long walks and fun play time. After letting go of some energy, she'll be ready to cuddle on the couch with you. Posh is available throughout March for just $50 in honor of Pitbull Awareness Month. Curious George Receives Delco SPCA's Ginger Award

The Delaware County SPCA's Rescued on the Runway was a success all around.

Our old friend Curious George was honored with the annual Ginger Award at the Delaware County SPCA's Rescued on the Runway event on March 8.  The Delco SPCA's Ginger Award is given to an outstanding and exemplary pitbull in the community that is helping to educate people about the breed and prevent cruelty to animals. Curious George, an American Bulldog-Pitbull mix, was found emaciated and wandering the streets and was taken to the SPCA by a Good Samaritan on Halloween. He was cared for and treated at the SPCA where he recovered much more quickly than expected. And by December he was officially embraced by new his owners Eric and Aimee Tysarczyk.
