Valentine’s Day brings out the romance in many people. We want to share your best stories.
Valentine’s Day is in the air and with it, romance. You may be thinking about the most romantic thing your boyfriend, husband or past love did for you this time of year. We want to know your story. I loved reading a great proposal story in our Cutest Couple Contest in Radnor: “My best friend proposed to me with a surprise homemade documentary on how perfect we are for each other this October at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. Without my knowing, all our friends and family were the audience in the theater that night :)” wrote Gia Datillo. My husband proposed to me on Valentine’s Day. It was a freezing cold day and he took me to a park we’d been to on our second date. He gave me a very large wrapped box that rattled when you shook it. I …

It was an extremely tight race to the cutest but Shelle and Jack Houser have been voted Media Patch's Cutest Couple.
Shelle and Jack Houser have been voted Media Patch's Cutest Couple after a weekend of voting. It was a very tight race, winning the bragging rights by just one vote. (Marla and Jenn were the runner up). The Housers have been married for three and half years and have two boys, 1-year-old Hunter and 10-year-old Archer. The couple met on an online dating website in 2006, unaware that they actually had several friends in common. They were soon engaged and arrived in Media in 2007 and married shortly after that in a pirate-themed wedding in October 2008. "We absolutely love it here," Jack Houser says. "We plan on staying at least until both boys are done school, but probably even beyond that." The Media Arts Council and Transition Town Media …

How do you find someone to look after your kids on a night when all couples want to be having a 'date night?'
Valentine’s Day is traditionally a day when couples go out, so what happens when so many couples go out on the same night? Two words: babysitter shortage. It can be difficult in the first place to find someone you trust to look after your children, but Valentine’s Day presents an additional challenge. Most couples would like to go on Valentine’s Day, which stretches the babysitter pool and on top of that, many babysitters themselves have Valentine’s Day dates, whether they’re grandparents, students or anywhere in between. If you're still searching, you can look online. There are some websites where sitters can register. (Disclaimer: I have not tried any of these sites to book a sitter. If you have and would like to share your opinion of …

Kenny’s Flower Shoppe on State Street was full of customers this Feb. 14.
Most women kiss and hug their special someone to thank them when they receive beautifully arranged flowers on Valentine’s Day. But really those hugs and kisses and thank yous should be directed at the florist who did all of the work. That special someone of yours paid for those flowers and granted he remembered it was Valentine’s Day so that always scores some points. But really the florist is the one who made the arrangement and sometimes selected the flowers and wrote the card. Kenny’s Flower Shoppe on State Street in Media was bustling with customers on Valentine’s Day. Mostly men would enter the shop and just stare at the colorful bunches filling the shop with a dazed look. Some of them had Hallmark bags in tow or chocolates and their …
