The Granite Run Mall is for sale. Who will make the giant purchase? The 57-acre property, solely owned, includes the mall, Acme, Kohl's, Sears Auto, AMC movie theater, and the strip of stores and restaurants along Baltimore Pike in front of the movie theater. Riddle Ale House and McDonald's are not part of the property. The property was last assessed at $47,250,000 million, according to Delaware County real estate documents, which is more than $4.1 million less than the nearby Springfield Mall despite the Granite Run acreage being more than double in size. The Mickey Vernon Sports Museum will honor Delaware County's finest athletes.
The grand opening of the Mickey Vernon Sports Museum at the Granite Run Mall will be held at 1 p.m. on April 21 on the mall’s upper level. The museum, which was previously located in Chadds Ford, is named after the Delaware County native who had a legendary baseball career for more 20 years, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. The museum will honor Delco's finest athletes and play host to rare memorabilia, artifacts, photos and videos of local sports legends, past and present, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. A New York-based real estate firm has been retained to seek investors.
The Granite Run Mall is for sale. However, the mall is not closing, according to the mall's Director of Marketing Aubrey Proud. Rockwood Real Estate Advisors, a New York-based firm, has been retained to seek qualified investors to acquire "free and clear" a 100 percent interest in the mall, according to Rockwood website. A Rockwood broker did not immediately return a request for comment. Granite Run Mall's newest restaurant recently opened its doors.
Dominic’s Hand Carved Roast Beef & Roast Pork opened its doors at Granite Run Mall on Feb. 27. Dominic’s serves up hand-carved roast beef and roast pork, draft beer and wine. Owner Daniel Malatesta, who had retired from now-closed Lotsa Pasta & Pub in Clifton Heights, couldn't stay away from the restaurant business. After about a year of retirement, he decided to open a new restaurant, which is named after his late father. Dominic’s is located inside the mall near Sears. They are open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., except on Sundays when they close at 6 p.m. with the rest of the mall.

The Granite Run Mall's first Sweetheart Gala exceeded its fundraising goals, raising $17,825 for the American Heart Association. The formal Gala held on March 2 was organized by and hosted at Granite Run Mall and raised funds through sponsorships, donations, ticket sales and a silent auction. The Middletown Township Council approved the transfer of a liquor license for the restaurant.
A new restaurant, Dominic’s Hand Carved Roast Beef & Roast Pork, will open at Granite Run Mall next month. Middletown Township Council on Monday night unanimously approved an inter-municipal transfer of a liquor license to Dominic’s from the now-closed Lotsa Pasta & Pub at 410 S. Springfield Ave in Clifton Heights. Retirement plans prompted Daniel Malatesta to close Lotsa Pasta in 2011, Malatesta told council. But after a year at home, Malatesta said he decided to open a new restaurant, which is named after his late father. Granite Run Mall's Dinosaurium will close on Jan. 1.
Dino Don's Dinosaurium, which opened inside the Granite Run Mall in November 2011, will close its doors on Jan. 1. The Dinosaurium was to just run through the spring when it first opened, but the prehistoric giants stayed longer than expected. The Dinosaurium is curated by "Dino" Don Lessem—the jolly champion of prehistoria who's best known by the public as an adviser on Jurassic Park. The Granite Run Mall exhibit helped spread the gospel of dino to a new generation. According to Lessem, his dinosaurs are now headed for the road, to exhibitions across the country, and many of the dinosaurs will be sold to amusement parks in China.
