Media Planning Board Opposes Wawa Rezoning

The Media Planning Commission has recommended opposing the rezoning of a portion of the proposed Super Wawa lot, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

The Media Borough Planning Commission recommended that Borough Council oppose the rezoning of a small portion of the proposed Super Wawa property at its recent meeting. The Super Wawa is proposed for the currently vacant lot, border by Providence Road, Baltimore Avenue and State Street, where the Media Inn once stood. Zoning changes and variances will need to be approved in order for the project to move forward. The lots are currently zoned HBO, highway-business-office district, with a TND overlay, traditional-neighborhood district. But a small portion of the lot is zoned R3-residential. The BP gas station that currently sits on the lot would be removed however that section of the lot, bordering State Street, is currently zoned residential…

Wawa Presents Application to Media Planning Commission

Traffic concerns continued during the first preliminary hearing regarding a proposed Super Wawa, bordered by Providence Road, Baltimore Avenue and State Street.

Wawa representatives presented its application for a proposed Super Wawa at the Media Borough Planning Commission meeting Wednesday. The Super Wawa is proposed for the currently vacant lot, border by Providence Road, Baltimore Avenue and State Street, where the Media Inn once stood.  This was the first preliminary hearing of the application and will likely see many meetings and much discussion before any decisions are made. Wawa had presented "concept plans" prior to this preliminary hearing to get a sense of where the borough and the public stand on the project. Agreed Andrea. Look at Brookhaven. Wawa opened a large store just up the street from their old location on 352 and several years later the old store is a boarded up eyesore. I don't want a dilapidated abandoned property in the heart of the borough.   more ›
