State Rep. Joseph T. Hackett brings a solid law enforcement background to Harrisburg as he begins his second term in the House of Representatives. With an eye toward reforming state government, he is committed to restoring accountability, transparency and fiscal responsibility, and to cutting waste, fraud and abuse.  Joe serves on the Judiciary, Aging and Older Adult Services, Human Services, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committees.  Joe formely served as a detective in the Criminal Investigative Division of the Delaware County District Attorney’s office. Prior to his work as a detective, he spent 20 years as a member of the Ridley Township Police Department. He has also served as past president and is a co-founder of the Delaware County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation, and is a past executive board member of the Delco Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #27. Joe also worked to foster economic growth in the region while serving as vice chairman of the Ridley Township Economic Development Committee. Joe has always held the community close to his heart, as he has been active in local youth athletics, most notably as a director and past vice president of the Swarthmorewood Athletic Association. He has been honored by such organizations as the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus for community service, and was awarded the Delaware County Police Emerald Society “Man of the Year” and the Delaware County Law Enforcement “Man of the Year” honors. In addition, he is a co-founder of the Reunion Cup golf tournament, which has raised more than $100,000 for local charities.

Joe’s work in athletics has been honored by the College Football Hall of Fame, and the Cardinal O’Hara and Delaware County Athletes halls of fame.
