Media 5 Miler, Summer Concert Series Among Weekend Events [Get Out]

It's a busy week and weekend in and around Media Patch. See what's going on.

There are big things happening this weekend. It's a weekend full of community events. The Rose Tree Park Summer Concert Series kicks off this week with the Rose Tree Pops on Wednesday. Media's big 5 Miler run is Friday and enjoy at meal a Uno Chicago Grill while raising money for Newtown Square Fire Co.

Rose Tree Park Summer Concert Series 

  • When: Every Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 18
  • Where: Rose Tree Park, Route 252, in Upper Providence Township
  • Why Go: Enjoy all types of tunes throughout the summer at this annual concert series. The series kicks off with the Rose Tree Pops on Wednesday. Find the full schedule here.
  • Cost: Free

Media 5 Mile Race

  • When: Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Media
  • Why Go: The 1,400 runners will start and finish on State Street in this 34th annual race. Cheer on the runners and enjoy live music with Jimmy Shoe and special guest from AZ—Jonny Z.

  • When: Saturday, June 22
  • Where: Linvilla Orchards, 137 W Knowlton Rd, Media
  • Why Go: Picking your own fresh fruit to bring home and try some samples and recipes. Kids can enjoy face painting and live music, too.
  • Cost: Free

Red Cross Blood Drive

  • When: Wednesday, June 26, from 2 to 7 p.m.
  • Where: Temple Sholom in Broomall
  • Why Go: Walk ins are welcome or go to http://www.redcrossblood.org/ and use sponsor code: 0222044 to schedule an appointment. All donors will be entered into a drawing to receive a $200 Visa gift card.
  • Cost: Free

 Marple Newtown Recreation Camp

  • When: Kicksoff Monday, June 24 and runs for six weeks
  •  Where: Gauntlett Community Center, 20 Media Line Rd, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: For campers ages 6 to 12, who can enjoy group and individual activities, like arts and crafts and sports. One day a week will also be a "water day." Sounds like some great summer fun.
