Excessive Heat Warning Issued for Philadelphia Area

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning as temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-90s throughout the week.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning that will remain in effect from noon Monday until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Experts predict that temperatures over that time will climb into the mid-90s throughout the week.

The heat index over that time will climb well above 100 degrees Monday and Tuesday with the heat index expected to reach a peak of 105 degrees on Thursday and Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say that cooler temperatures should reach the area Sunday.

The National Weather Service advises that residents drink a lot of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on neighbors and relatives, especially the very young or adults over 50.
