Wawa in Lima Closed

The Wawa location on Baltimore Pike near Route 452 closed on July 24.

The Wawa in Lima, Middletown Township closed its doors on July 24.

The #133 store, which opened in 1981, served free coffee to its loyal customers on its last day of operation.

All Wawa associates were transferred to nearby stores, according to Wawa Public Relations Lori Bruce.

Wawa determined that modernizing or relocating this older store, rather than close it, was not possible at this time.

"And while we are excited about our future plans for growth and expansion, we unfortunately must sometimes close some of our older stores without an immediate replacement," a sign posted at the store read.

On Friday, the Wawa store had been emptied and road blocks placed at both the front and rear entrances. But that didn't deter a few Wawa lovers who still entered the parking lot only to be turned away.

Surrounding Wawa's on Baltimore Pike in Media and Glen Mills as well as Providence Road in Upper Providence remain open.
