County employees and residents are invited to come to the Government Center, 201 W. Front St., Media, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 18 to take advantage of health and wellness information and screenings. The Wellness Fair is free and open to all.

The Wellness Fair is organized by the Delaware County Women’s Commission (DCWC), the Friends of the DCWC, and the Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health. These organizations partner with representatives from local hospitals and agencies to address health care needs.  The participants are being coordinated by Crozer-Keystone Health System (CKHS).

“Our goal is to provide everyone with current and comprehensive health and wellness information and to provide them with an opportunity to get some of the screenings that are key to prevention,” said Delaware County Councilwoman Colleen Morrone, Council’s liaison to the Department of Intercommunity Health.

“The first two years, we held a Women’s Wellness Fair to reach out to women who tend to put the health needs of their family members before their own, but we heard from several men that they wanted to participate to. So this year’s Wellness Fair is open to everyone,” Mrs. Morrone said.

At the Wellness Fair, people can get blood pressure screenings, fitness and nutrition tips, stroke risk assessment, osteoporosis heel scans, information on cancer and diabetes treatment, and preventive health tips.

Participants in the 2013 Wellness Fair include the Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health, Crozer-Keystone Community Health Education, Delaware County Tobacco Free Coalition, Crozer Keystone Medical Imaging, CKHS Volunteer Services, CKHS ER3, CKHS Sleep Centers,  ChesPenn Health Center, Women Against Rape, Domestic Abuse Project, Delaware County Family Engagement Workshop, Women’s Resource Center, Pathways PA, Family Support Line, CKHS Center for Diabetes, CKHS Cancer & Health Line Services, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Health Care Solutions of Delaware Valley, Delaware County Health Literacy Coalition, among others.

“We encourage men and women of all ages to come and visit the Wellness Fair to discover new ways to care for yourself, find time for yourself and manage your physical well-being,” said Women’s Commission Chair Theresa M. Agostinelli.
