Man's DNA Linked to Theft from Vehicle, Police Say

Nearly two years after a car break in, a DNA match results in a Philadelphia man's arrest, police say.

A Philadelphia man was recently charged in connection with breaking into a vehicle almost two years ago after his DNA, which was left on the vehicle, was matched, according to Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks.

William Dennis Daly Jr., 40, was charged with theft from a motor vehicle and related offenses following a DNA match, according to State Police.

A car stereo, a wallet containing credit cards, debit cards and cash and a school bag containing textbooks and a calculator were taken from a vehicle parked in the Granite Run Mall parking lot on Dec. 3, 2011, according to State Police.

Daly allegedly left blood on the vehicle after breaking the window, according to State Police.

A DNA profile was obtained from the blood that was collected from the vehicle and matched Daly's DNA profile, according to State Police.

Daly is currently incarcerated in Philadelphia on unrelated charges.
