Teaching History:

Scherer began her teaching career in Michigan, where she is originally from. She received her undergraduate and Masters of Social Work Degree from University of Michigan.

What do you like most about your job:

I love working with the kids. They keep me connected to the world and keep me young. I enjoy their sense of humor and how they have the whole world ahead of them. Everything is yet to come. It's fun to see their growth from 11th to 12th grades and see them mature from high school to being ready for college and adulthood. It's amazing to see the transformation.

Why did you become a teacher:

I always wanted to be a teacher and I enjoy math and science. I was first an engineering major in college but after two years I realized I couldn't ignore my passion for teaching. I had to follow my heart and switch gears to pursue education, with a focus on math and science.

What do you like best about your current school:

The students are great, I have wonderful colleagues who are professional and very interested in doing a good job. The administration is supportive. I can try new things and the administration is always willing to help and make it happen. We have tremendous amounts of technology here too and that continues to grow. It's always very cutting edge.

Scherer is also organizing a summer blood drive with Penncrest's National Honor Society. Penncrest will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on July 27. . Walk-ins are also welcome.
