Bark in the Park Set for Saturday

Check out the schedule of events for the Delaware County SPCA's Bark in the Park on Saturday.

The Delaware County SPCA’s 7th annual Bark in the Park Dog Walk and Fall Festival will be held on Saturday at Rose Tree Park in Media, rain or shine.

The day kicks off with the Bark in the Park Dog Walk, a two-mile course around the scenic park. Walkers can register the day of walk at 10 a.m. for a $25 registration fee or ahead of time at www.firstgiving.com/delcospca.  

Schedule of events:

  • 12 p.m.: State Farm Arson Dog presentation
  • 12 p.m.: Hoop dancing performance
  • 12-2 p.m.: Shot and microchip clinic (shots range from $7-$20)
  • 12-2 p.m.: "Touch-a-Truck" for kids including fire trucks, dump trucks and a helicopter
  • 12:30-3:00 p.m.: Dog contests. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Animal cruelty survivor Curious George and his parents and Steve Morrison of WMMR's "Preston & Steve" show will be guest judging.
  • Best Costume Contest: 12:30 p.m.
  • Delco SPCA Alumni Homecoming King/Queen Contest: 1 p.m.
  • Best Lap Dog Over 50 Pounds: 1:30 p.m.
  • Best Kisser: 2 p.m.
  • Best Ears: 2:30 p.m.
  • Best Tail Wagger: 3 p.m.

Oogy the rescued Pit Bull once used as a bait dog and his dad will be signing their New York Times-bestselling book about Oogy's story and posing for picture.

There will be food trucks and fresh brick-oven pizza sponsored by Ariano's, a raffle including two Philadelphia Flyers tickets, dog nail trims, chair massage, "Sing-a-Song to Save a Life" karaoke, games, face painting and arts and crafts.

And of course plenty of adoptable dogs and cats.


Event sponsors include Media Real Estate, Swiss Farms, Pilot Freight Services, TD Bank and Pet360. All proceeds from the event will benefit the prevention and adoption programs and adoptable animals at the Delco SPCA, a lifesaving animal welfare organization.
