Week Ahead: Wawa Discussion, Golf Outing, Book Signing

What's going on this week in the greater Media area? Here's what we found but be sure to add anything we may have missed in the comments below.

  • Media Borough Council workshop meeting on Oct. 3 in council chambers at borough hall. A public hearing regarding the proposed Wawa at the vacant Media Inn lot will begin at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to comment. The regular workshop meeting will immediately follow at 7:30 p.m.
  • The Route 252 roadwork construction project begins Monday.
  • Media Borough Community Comprehensive Plan Task Force meeting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 1
  • Media Borough Planning Commission meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 1. The Comprehensive Plan goals will be discussed. Find the full agenda here
  • Manhattan Short Film Festival at Media Theatre on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. Find more information here

  • Quizzo at 8 p.m. on Sept. 30 at Stephen's on State
  • Beer Flight Night at Picasso Restaurant on Oct. 2. For just $10, try five 4-ounce pours of any of their beers on draft.
  • Psychic Tuesday with Vee at 7 p.m. at Stephen's on State on Oct. 1
  • Live a Healthy Life Workshop from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Surrey in Media. The workshop for adults with diabetes, cardiac or pulmonary disease, arthritis, anxiety or any other ongoing health condition can learn how to communicate effectively with doctors and family, eat well, relax, manage pain and gain control of your life. The free 6-week workshop for adults age 60 and older who live in Delaware County will be offered every Wednesday through Oct. 30.   • Paws for Reading at 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Media-Upper Providence Library. For ages 5-11. Children can read aloud to a therapy dog in order to improve reading and communication skills making them feel comfortable and confident—while having fun. Registration required: 610-566-1918.
  • Electronic Waste Recycling Collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 5, at the Middletown Township Building. More details here
  • Middletown Township 13th Annual Golf Outing at Penn Oaks Golf Club on Oct. 1. More details here
  • Late Lunch with Ladies Book Club at the Middletown Library on Oct. 2
  • Local Author book signing at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Middletown Library. Local author Rich Wagner will give a presentation about Philadelphia breweries followed by a book signing of his book Philadelphia Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in the Cradle of Liberty. 
  • Special Needs Free-Play Day at Middletown Library from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 4. Geared for kids with special needs and their parents/caregivers, the library will pull out all of it’s toys, play short cartoons on the movie screen, and have sensory activities out for the kids to explore and enjoy. Recommended for children with special needs. Registration is not required.
